From the Restaurant Site...
Opened in 2004, Meriwether’s Restaurant is located in the historic 2601 NW Vaughn building, on the site of the famous 1905 World’s Fair. With our unique garden dining, warm hospitality and remarkable food, Meriwether’s is a renewal of the classic country inn.
Chef Earl Hook’s food and menu reflects a farm to table approach with an ingredient driven focus relying heavily on Mediterranean sensibility and fresh produce from our own Meriwether’s Skyline Farm. In recent years the relationship between farmer and chef has become increasingly important. Cooks and diners have greater interest in where their food is coming from. We have spent the last year working to shorten the distance between field and table by laying the infrastructure for our own 5 acre vegetable farm – Meriwether’s Skyline Farm – with full southwest exposure at the apex of Skyline Drive, right here in the city of Portland. We are growing a full array of traditional garden vegetables, flowers and herbs, with an emphasis on heirloom and Italian varietals. We are also establishing a flock of heritage laying ducks and expect to see our first free-range eggs by late summer or early fall.
Meriwether’s continues to establish itself as the place for family and friends to gather for special occasions or to unwind after work at our locally stocked bar. We look forward to providing you with the best food, service and experiences.
