Pok Pok is where to go to “find your happy place.” It is street food, each dish with a strong sense of place and purpose. Many are evocative of dishes you may have enjoyed in Southeast Asia, but somehow different, evolved, more flavorful. The ingredients are natural, where possible, and many of the proteins are grilled over charcoal. Drinks are festive and innovative. Although Portland’s weather is far from that of Chiang Mai, this is outdoor food and the ample patio has space heaters to take the chill off. The tiny subterranean Whiskey Soda Lounge lounge is also nice; teak paneled and cheerful.
