Our Comments

OK, we know it’s just a cafeteria where you spoon up your food from a buffet line and pay by the pound, but this place is special. Ingredients often come from the campus gardens, the preparations are interesting, and the food is infused with science and love (Bastyr University is a pioneer in natural medicine and wellness). Prices are amazing considering the quality of the ingredients. The tables are lively meeting places (with free wi-fi) and the juice bar is on hand, although the free filtered water is excellent.

Bastyr is located with in a state park; a lovely place to walk your dog after lunch.

From the Restaurant Site...

Bastyr’s gourmet vegetarian cafeteria, which has been given awards by the Seattle Times and Evergreen Monthly, offers menus that are innovative and affordably priced. It is open to the public and serves a broad selection of items that appeal to every taste and dietary restriction.

The cafeteria’s mouthwatering array of choices tempts even the most discerning palate. You’ll always find incredible salad bar options, creative hot meals and fresh-baked goods. The cafeteria even harvests some of its fresh ingredients from the university’s celebrated organic herb and vegetable garden. Most items are priced by the pound, some items are priced by portion. And, if you’re not a vegetarian, that’s okay—but prepare to be converted!

In addition to its delicious food, the cafeteria is a great place to gather and connect with the Bastyr community. On any given day you might find a bake sale held by nutrition students, a garden sale featuring fresh flowers and veggies, or special student-run events. The cafeteria is open every day and offers a variety of drinks and snacks between scheduled meals.
